The City of Brunswick’s Comprehensive Plan update was approved by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and adopted by the Brunswick City Commission in October of 2018. Over the past year, Brunswick developed a vision and assessed their needs in a range of planning areas including population, economic development, housing, natural and cultural resources, community facilities, land use, and transportation.
As directed by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the Comprehensive Plan will guide the City of Brunswick thru the creation of Community Goals – broad vision for what the community wants for its future; examining Community Needs and Opportunities – immediate challenges faced by the community; and developing a Community Work Program – to do list for addressing the challenges you identified and moving toward the vision you created. Primary areas of focus include Economic Development, Land Use, Transportation, Housing, and Capital Improvements.
The Comprehensive Plan incorporates a number of existing community driven plans that have been developed over the past few years, prioritizes their recommendations, and establishes a 10 year work plan and goals. You can find the 2018 Comprehensive Plan and Appendices at the links below:
